GOP consultant Jon Paul Morrow says Stidham should have abstained, as LaRose weighs a deadlocked county board tie by an Aug. 28 deadline.

Secretary of State Frank LaRose, a Republican running for auditor on the same ballot, must now break the tie by Aug. 28 under state law.

Stidham was one of six committee members entitled to vote on his own nomination, and Huffman and Reineke had already been working to secure it for him.

Erie GOP chair Caleb Stidham is applying for the seat he'll help decide, while Statehouse leaders Huffman and Reineke quietly back him, a source tells TiffinOhio.net.
