In a heartfelt tribute on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has provided mortgage-free homes to the families of 20 fallen first responders. This initiative continues the Foundation’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices made by these brave individuals by supporting the families they left behind.
Among those recognized this year is Sean Tyler, a Tiffin firefighter and paramedic who passed away on June 20, 2022, after a valiant battle with service-related cancer.
Tyler, a fourth-generation firefighter, dedicated his life to serving his community both as a member of the Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division and as a registered nurse at Mercy Health’s emergency room. His service extended beyond his professional duties, as he also contributed to his community through coaching youth football, participating in his children’s school activities, and volunteering at a local food bank.
Tyler’s legacy is marked by his deep commitment to service, demonstrated through his roles as a firefighter, nurse, coach, husband, and father. He is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their three children: Paxton Robert, Oakley Lynn, and Hudson James. His family, along with their dog, Colt, and many friends and relatives, continue to honor his memory.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s chairman and CEO, Frank Siller, expressed deep admiration for Tyler’s life and service. “Firefighter Sean Tyler lived a life of service. He was a firefighter, a nurse, a coach, a husband, and a father,” Siller said. “Today, on the anniversary of 9/11, we honor his service and willingness to help in every aspect of his life by taking care of the family he left behind, the way Sean took care of so many during his life.”
The Foundation’s tribute extends to other fallen heroes, including Wyandot County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Kin. By providing these mortgage-free homes, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation reaffirms its commitment to supporting the families of first responders and honoring their extraordinary sacrifices.
