TIFFIN, Ohio — An 8-year-old girl who became lost while riding her bicycle was found safe Monday evening after a multi-agency search involving sheriff’s deputies, police, state troopers and a drone.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was notified shortly after 6 p.m. Monday that the girl was missing from a residence on South Township Road 77. The caller said the child had been riding her bicycle and had last been confirmed seen roughly 45 minutes earlier.
Multiple sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to search the area. Republic police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to assist, while another deputy was called in to deploy a drone as the search expanded.
Investigators followed several possible leads about where the child may have traveled, including information suggesting she could have been heading toward New Washington. Crawford County authorities were also notified during the search.
The Sheriff’s Office reported at approximately 6:52 p.m. that the girl had been located.
According to the final entry in the sheriff’s media summary, the child had left home on her bicycle, became lost and eventually arrived at a former teacher’s home. The former teacher then brought her home.
