The City of Tiffin will unveil a new “iceless” skating rink at Oakley Park on Dec. 8, 2024, marking the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m., followed by open skating.
The rink, named the Sutton Bank Charitable Fund of Tiffin Community Foundation Rink, allows residents to skate using regular ice skates without the need for chillers, regardless of temperature.
“This project is a testament to what we can achieve when we collaborate and pool our resources for the greater good of our community,” Mayor Lee W. Wilkinson said in a press release.
The initiative represents a partnership between the City of Tiffin, the Tiffin Parks and Recreation Department, and Operation Hallmark Inc.
Residents can bring their own skates, or rentals will be available. The rink will operate on Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 per person.
The project was spearheaded by Tiffin Parks Director Bryce Kuhn and Christy Wiser, president of Operation Hallmark Inc. Major sponsors include the Sutton Bank Charitable Fund, the White Family Charitable Fund, Reineke Family Dealerships, Mary Jo and Bob SanGregory, and Clouse Construction.
“We are excited to have this feature at Oakley Park to benefit our whole community,” said Jodie Reinbolt, executive director of the Tiffin Community Foundation.
