TIFFIN, Ohio — Tiffin University will formally welcome its newest students at Convocation on Monday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Heminger Center at 350 Miami St.
Before the ceremony, members of the Class of 2030 will walk in a procession down Miami Street beginning at 1:45 p.m. Faculty, staff and returning students will line the route to cheer on the incoming Dragons as they make their way to Convocation.
During the ceremony, students will hear from university leadership as they are officially welcomed to the university and begin the 2026-27 academic year. Convocation marks the start of the school year and the opportunities, experiences and connections ahead of the incoming class.
The ceremony falls in the middle of RISE Week, Tiffin University’s welcome program for new and returning students, which runs from Aug. 20 through Aug. 28. First-year students moved into campus housing on Thursday, Aug. 20, and the week’s schedule includes academic sessions, a downtown walk, a student organization fair and a closing rally. The university lists Convocation as a required event for all new students.
Those unable to attend in person can watch on Tiffin University’s YouTube channel, where the ceremony will be livestreamed.
The private university sits along Miami Street and enrolls students in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. In May, Tiffin University and Heidelberg University announced five new academic partnership pathways taking effect this fall, covering counseling, criminal justice, teacher education and nursing. The university also unveiled an updated dragon mascot in 2024.
