TIFFIN, Ohio — A 21-year-old man has been charged with menacing by stalking after a woman told Tiffin police that he had been following her, threatening her and placed an AirTag on her vehicle.

The woman went to the Tiffin Police Department shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday and reported that the man had been following her, would not leave her alone and had put the tracking device on her car. She also told police that he had been threatening her, according to a police media summary.

Police identified the man as Tristian J. Underwood, 21, of Tiffin. Officers began handling the complaint at approximately 8:21 a.m.

The police summary does not say whether officers located or recovered the AirTag, nor does it provide additional details about the alleged threats.

At approximately 9:59 a.m., police recorded that they were en route to the jail. Underwood was subsequently taken to the Seneca County Jail, and the incident was closed with a disposition of “Arrested Adult.”

Court records filed Monday now show that Underwood was charged with menacing by stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor. The alleged offense is listed as occurring at 8:18 a.m. Sunday, corresponding with the police complaint.

The case remains pending in Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court.

Court records show a $1,028 bond was posted Monday. Underwood is scheduled to appear for a mandatory arraignment at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, before Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court.

No plea or disposition had been entered as of Tuesday afternoon.
