TIFFIN, Ohio — The City of Tiffin is exploring a potential $250,000 grant that would help downtown property owners pay for building improvements, the city announced.
The money would come through the federal Community Development Block Grant program. The city has not been awarded the funding; officials are looking into whether it could support reinvestment projects in the historic downtown district.
“We are excited to explore this opportunity and what it could mean for our downtown property owners and the future of Downtown Tiffin,” said Mayor Lee W. Wilkinson. “Investing in our historic downtown buildings strengthens our business district, preserves our community character, and helps ensure that downtown remains a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.”
Downtown building owners can learn more at an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at The Seneca County Collaborative, 96 S. Washington St. The session will cover the grant program, which projects would be eligible, application requirements and how to participate.
Wilkinson also previewed the meeting at yesterday’s City Council session.
Property owners who plan to attend are asked to reserve a spot by contacting the Mayor’s office at (419) 448-5401.
