SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — Nine Seneca County food facilities were cited for 11 critical violations during inspections conducted in August, according to public records from the Seneca County General Health District.
Every critical violation was marked corrected during the inspection. The findings included improperly held food, expired baby food, improperly stored food and failures to properly date refrigerated, ready-to-eat food.
One establishment, Fatheads in Republic, received two critical citations during a follow-up inspection.
Fatheads
218 Washington Street, Republic — Aug. 14
During a follow-up inspection, health district officials cited Fatheads for two critical violations and one non-critical violation.
Inspectors observed uncovered food on a counter and in a freezer and found ready-to-eat food in a cooler that had been kept beyond the permitted seven-day period.
Both critical violations were corrected during the inspection.
The report also noted that a previously cited issue involving the location of handwashing sinks had been corrected since the prior inspection.
Stiney’s
255 Second Avenue, Tiffin — Aug. 17
Stine Incorporated received one critical violation after inspectors found refrigerated, ready-to-eat food without proper date markings.
The health district classified the violation as a repeat violation. It was corrected during the inspection.
Bassett’s Market IGA / Heritage IGA
479 E. Market Street, Tiffin — Aug. 10
Bassett’s/Heritage IGA received one critical violation after inspectors found three 2.5-ounce jars of Gerber beef and gravy baby food with expiration dates of July 31, 2026.
The jars were removed during the inspection.
Inspectors also cited a non-critical violation after finding no sanitizer in a wiping-cloth bucket in the deli area. Sanitizer was added during the inspection.
Mercy Hospital of Tiffin — Wolf Creek Cafe
45 St. Lawrence Drive, Tiffin — Aug. 3
The Wolf Creek Cafe received one critical violation after inspectors found food at the pizza station being held below the required hot-holding temperature.
Stromboli measured 128 degrees, while pizzas measured 129 degrees and 126 degrees. Hot-held food of this type must remain at 135 degrees or higher.
The pizza and stromboli were removed, correcting the violation.
Tiffin Aerie FOE 402
68 Riverside Drive, Tiffin — Aug. 3
Tiffin Aerie FOE 402 received one critical violation after a preparation cooler registered at 48 degrees.
Food requiring refrigeration was discarded, and the violation was corrected during the inspection.
Inspectors also documented two non-critical violations involving missing hand-drying supplies and debris on an ice maker.
The Wall Street Pub and Grille
235 Miami Street, Tiffin — Aug. 6
The Wall Street Pub and Grille received one critical violation after inspectors found rice being held at 93 degrees in a rice cooker, below the required 135-degree hot-holding temperature.
The rice was discarded during the inspection.
Two non-critical violations were also documented involving an ice machine and wet wiping cloths.
Heavenly Pizza
69 W. Market Street, Tiffin — Aug. 11
Heavenly Pizza received one critical violation after inspectors found bags of cooked spaghetti without required date markings.
The spaghetti was date-marked during the inspection. Inspectors also cited one non-critical cleanliness violation involving a pizza preparation cooler.
Good Shepherd Home
725 Columbus Avenue, Fostoria — Aug. 28
Good Shepherd Home received one critical violation after inspectors found gravy at 128 degrees and mashed potatoes at 118 degrees in the main kitchen serving area.
Both were below the required 135-degree hot-holding temperature. The food was reheated during the inspection.
One non-critical violation involving personal items stored with clean cups was also corrected.
Fort Ball Pizza Palace
111 Melmore Street, Tiffin — Aug. 12
Fort Ball Pizza Palace received two critical violations after inspectors found uncovered food and unclear date markings on refrigerated, ready-to-eat food.
The uncovered-food violation was classified as a repeat. Both violations were corrected during the inspection.
