Dr. Prasad Kakarala, the board-certified pediatrician who has served Tiffin families for more than 45 years, is retiring from Tiffin Pediatrics. His final day in the office is scheduled for May 28, 2026, according to a statement from the practice.

Kakarala, who holds the designations MD, DCH, and FAAP, earned his medical degree in India and completed his pediatric residency at the Institute of Child Health in Hyderabad before finishing additional training at Columbia University in New York. He has been a fixture of pediatric care in Seneca County for decades, seeing patients across multiple generations of the same families.

Beyond clinical practice, Kakarala has served as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toledo College of Medicine for roughly 30 years, precepting more than 250 medical students. The practice says he became the most-requested pediatric preceptor in the program.

“Dr. Kakarala was known not only for his exceptional medical care, but for the genuine love and connection he shared with his patients. From remembering names and stories from decades ago to providing thoughtful, personalized care, he created a legacy that will not be forgotten,” the practice said.

The transition of clinical leadership began February 26, 2026. Nurse Practitioners Samantha Dotson, APRN, and Whitney Stine, APRN — both board-certified and currently listed on the practice’s team page — will continue seeing patients and serving as clinical leaders. The practice says it has appointed Dr. Amna Hilal as its new Medical Director and board-certified pediatrician.

The practice also announced it is in the process of adding another pediatrician for on-site clinical services, though no timeline or name has been released.

The practice says planned upgrades include new equipment, expanded testing, and enhanced patient resources, as well as updated digital infrastructure including a new website, social media platforms, and MyChart patient portal access. The practice is currently accepting new patients and is located at 455 W. Market St., Suite A, in Tiffin.

Kakarala will remain available through the coming months to assist with the transition of care.
