TIFFIN, OH — Former Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton is coming to Tiffin later this week as part of her campaign for governor.

Local resident Beth Schweitzer will host a fundraising reception for Acton on Thursday, October 23, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event will take place immediately following a public meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. at The Deli at Frost Village.

Acton, who grew up in Youngstown in a family affected by the decline of the steel industry, often speaks about overcoming childhood poverty, hunger, and periods of homelessness. She went on to become a physician and public health leader, earning degrees in medicine and public health from Ohio State University.

Before launching her campaign for governor, Acton served as Director of the Ohio Department of Health under Gov. Mike DeWine, where she became a well-known figure during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership during that time earned her a Profile in Courage Award from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and recognition as USA Today’s Ohio Woman of the Year in 2022.

The evening will give community members an opportunity to hear directly from Acton about her vision for Ohio and the issues driving her campaign. The exact address for the reception will be shared with attendees after they RSVP.

Suggested contribution levels for the event range from $25 to $500, but organizers note there’s no minimum donation required to attend.

Those interested in attending can RSVP by calling (614) 450-2283, emailing RSVP@ActonForGovernor.com, or online via ActBlue.

Contributions can also be made to Ohioans for Amy Acton, 1223 E. Main St., Suite 311, Columbus, OH 43205, or through the campaign’s secure online donation link at ActBlue.
