BALLVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 20-year-old Whitehouse woman was killed and four other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon at U.S. Route 6 and State Route 53, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Nacole Bartolet died at the scene, according to the Patrol’s Fremont Post. The crash was reported at about 3:32 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2004 Saturn ION driven by Dylon Sinley, 23, of Seville, was northbound on State Route 53 and failed to yield while turning left, the Patrol said. The car was struck by a southbound 2019 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Angela Ebbing, 59, of Troy.
Bartolet was a passenger in the Saturn. Sinley and another passenger in the car, Leia McIntire, 22, of Wooster, were seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, the Patrol said.
Ebbing and her passenger, Michael Ebbing, 64, also of Troy, were taken to ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont with injuries the Patrol described as not life-threatening.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County EMS, the Ballville Township Fire Department, the Sandusky County Coroner’s Office and Madison Motors.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Fremont Post investigated a fatal single-vehicle crash on County Road 62 in Jackson Township in June that killed a 65-year-old Bettsville man. In July, a Perrysburg man was killed in Ottawa County after a driver failed to yield at a stop sign.
