The City of Tiffin has announced plans to restripe North Sandusky Street between Miami and Hall streets, reducing it to two lanes to enhance safety and improve traffic flow. The changes will include the addition of turn lanes and dedicated parking along the roadway.
The decision to restripe the street was made after discussions involving the City Engineer, Public Works, and the Tiffin Traffic Safety Committee. A key feature of the plan is the creation of dedicated right-turn lanes at the intersection of Sandusky and Hudson streets, which will require through traffic to use the center lanes. This modification is expected to improve safety at the intersection.
“The upcoming road striping project on North Sandusky Street is a significant step toward enhancing safety for both drivers and pedestrians,” said Mayor Lee Wilkinson. “I have the utmost confidence in our city engineering department and the excellent work they do to continuously improve our city’s infrastructure. Their dedication and expertise are instrumental in making Tiffin a safer and more convenient place for us all.”
The restriping is part of broader preparations for the North Sandusky Street Project, which aims to fully reconstruct the street between Hall and Tomb streets, resurface the roadway between Tomb Street and the city’s northern limits, and improve access management and signalization at the Six’s Corners intersection. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.
The restriping is anticipated to take place this fall.
