U.S. Army veteran and Tiffin City Council member Aaron Jones will be running for Ohio State Representative in the 88th District, the seat currently held by incumbent Rep. Gary Click (R-Vickery), TiffinOhio.net has learned.
The 88th District includes all of Sandusky and Seneca counties.
Jones served four years in the U.S. Army after graduating from Clyde High School in 1991. Following his military service, he built a career in manufacturing and has spent more than 20 years working at Grammer in Tiffin, formerly Toledo Molding & Die, where he currently serves as a supervisor.
Born in Tiffin and raised near Green Springs, Jones returned to the city in 2006 after meeting his wife, Tracy. The couple raised their blended family in Tiffin and are now grandparents to four grandchildren.
Since 2024, Jones has represented Tiffin’s 1st Ward on City Council, where he was elected as a Democrat. According to campaign materials, his work on council has focused on employment issues, neighborhood safety, and constituent access to local government.
Jones said he is running to represent working families in Columbus, citing rising costs, job security, healthcare affordability, and education as central concerns. He has emphasized his background in the military and manufacturing as shaping his views on public service and economic policy.
“I’m not running to be somebody important. I’m running because working families like mine deserve someone who won’t forget them once the election’s over,” Jones told TiffinOhio.net.
Click, a former community theater actor, has represented the district since 2021 and is also a Baptist preacher. During his tenure in the Ohio House, he has become a prominent sponsor of socially conservative legislation that has drawn statewide attention and opposition.
Click was the lead sponsor of House Bill 68, legislation that bans gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors and restricts transgender athletes’ participation in school sports. The bill became law in 2024 after the General Assembly overrode a veto by Gov. Mike DeWine and has since been the subject of legal challenges.

He has also supported legislation related to public education that critics argue blurs the line between church and state, including measures addressing how Christianity may be discussed in school curricula. Those proposals have prompted public debate and opposition from civil liberties groups.
Click is facing a primary challenge from Republican Eric Watson. The general election will determine who represents the 88th District in the Ohio House of Representatives.
