Tiffin City Councilman and Ohio House candidate Aaron Jones attended the 92nd Annual Ohio Farmers Union State Convention on Saturday in Lima, where he met with family farmers and rural advocates to discuss issues affecting agriculture and rural communities across the state.
The annual convention brought together farmers, policymakers, and experts to address topics including farm economics, trade and tariffs, healthcare and childcare costs, and the role of education in sustaining rural communities.
“Family farmers are dealing with rising costs, uncertainty, and policies that too often ignore what’s happening on the ground,” Jones said in a statement released by his campaign. “If we want strong rural communities, we need state policies that actually work for the people doing the work. That starts with listening to farmers and rural families.”
According to the campaign, Jones spoke with farmers and advocates from across Ohio about protecting family farms, strengthening local food systems, and ensuring rural communities have access to necessary resources.
While attending the convention, Jones also spoke with physician and public health leader Amy Acton, a candidate in Ohio’s 2026 gubernatorial race, about the relationship between agriculture, rural health, and economic stability in Ohio communities.
Jones is a U.S. Army veteran, a factory supervisor at Toledo Molding & Die in Tiffin, and a first-term member of Tiffin City Council, where he has represented the city’s 1st Ward since 2024. He announced in January that he is running as a Democrat for the Ohio House of Representatives in the 88th District, which includes all of Seneca and Sandusky counties.
The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
