FLAT ROCK, Ohio — A Flat Rock man was arrested Monday in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile, authorities said.

William R. Stevens, 46, was taken into custody at his residence at 15960 Water Street following a multiagency investigation, according to a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Detectives began probing the allegation after receiving a report of the incident from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Cleveland Field Office, Toledo Resident Agency, the release said.

Law enforcement officials executed several search warrants, including one signed by Judge Damon Alt of the Seneca County Common Pleas Court. Officers confiscated evidence believed to be connected to the investigation as well as several electronic devices.

In addition to Seneca County detectives, Special Agents and Task Force Officers from the FBI, the Ottawa County Crime Task Force, the Seneca County Drug Task Force’s METRICH Enforcement Unit, the Ottawa County Crime Task Force Canine Unit and the Seneca County Special Response Team assisted in executing the warrant, the press release stated.

Stevens faces charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a third-degree felony, and is being held at the Seneca County Jail pending further prosecution.

“Based on all the facts and circumstances of this entire investigation, I truly believe that Seneca County is safer this evening because this individual is off our streets,” Sheriff Fredrick W. Stevens said in the statement.
