Man arrested following Black Friday break-in at Attica Dollar General

ATTICA, Ohio — A man has been arrested following an alleged early morning break-in at the Dollar General store located at 14068 East U.S. 224 in Attica, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to an alarm activation at the store in the early hours of Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered extensive damage to the store’s front door and display window.

Following an investigation, deputies obtained information about a suspect, which led to an immediate follow-up and subsequent arrest.

Richard Scott Smith, 56, of Attica, was taken into custody and charged with vandalism, a fifth-degree felony.

“Through these collaborative efforts with the community, we will continue to keep making Seneca County a safe place to live, work, and visit,” Sheriff Fred Stevens said in a statement.
