JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash reported Monday morning in Jackson Township, Seneca County.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:54 a.m. at the intersection of Township Road 154 and Township Road 101.
Stephen J. Hoover, 64, of Fostoria, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer westbound on Township Road 154 when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Township Road 101, according to investigators. The vehicle continued through the intersection, veered off the west edge of the roadway, went airborne, and struck a yard and a ditch.
Hoover, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered fatal injuries.
The Highway Patrol said it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
