FREMONT, Ohio — U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown visited Crown Battery Corporation on Wednesday, engaging with workers about the 2024 election and his ongoing push for what he calls the “Dignity of Work.” Brown highlighted his efforts to bolster Ohio manufacturing, citing his role in bringing the president of the Export-Import Bank of the United States to Crown Battery, aimed at increasing export support for the company and similar Ohio manufacturers.

“Ohio manufacturers and their workers are the best in the world,” Brown said, emphasizing his efforts to reinforce domestic supply chains and promote Ohio products globally. “From standing up against policies that offshore jobs and harm Ohio workers, to pushing for production and supply chains to return home, Ohioans know I’ll always work to retain the best manufacturing talent in the country right here in Ohio.”

Hal Hawk, President and CEO of Crown Battery, voiced his support for Brown’s work with Ohio manufacturers. “As a Republican voter, I’ve always backed candidates who actively support Ohio manufacturers. In this race, that candidate is Sherrod Brown,” Hawk said. “From helping us stay competitive in a global market to securing vital investments for our communities, Sherrod has consistently stood by Ohio manufacturers and their workforce.”

Brown, a Democrat, has positioned himself as a strong advocate for workers’ rights. His office contrasts his record with that of one of his opponents, businessman Bernie Moreno, who has faced criticism for alleged actions that include withholding workers’ overtime pay, destroying court-ordered documents, and promoting foreign-made products, including the Buick Envision, which has drawn scrutiny for outsourcing jobs overseas.

Brown’s visit to Crown Battery underscores the role of manufacturing and labor rights as key issues in Ohio’s Senate race, with the “Dignity of Work” theme likely to be a focal point of his campaign as he seeks re-election in 2024.
