The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post, in partnership with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, will target failure-to-yield violations during October, officials announced.

Nearly 20% of crashes in Seneca County this year have been caused by drivers failing to yield, including three fatal crashes that killed six people. Additionally, 64 injury-related crashes in 2024 have been attributed to failure-to-yield violations.

Authorities are urging motorists to adhere to traffic control devices and laws, particularly at intersections and when making turns. Drivers are reminded to yield the right-of-way to avoid crashes and ensure safety on Ohio’s roads.

As part of this initiative, law enforcement will conduct increased patrols across Seneca County, focusing on failure-to-yield offenses. Drivers caught breaking traffic laws could face fines, license points, and higher insurance rates.

The Patrol encourages motorists to report unsafe driving or request assistance by calling #677.
