Tiffin, Ohio – Two individuals were hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into a home in Pleasant Township on Thursday, igniting a fire, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 12:22 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the crash in the 6000 block of North County Road 33. Deputies and multiple fire and EMS rescue teams responded to find both the vehicle and the residence engulfed in flames.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate a curve, veering off the roadway and striking the residence.

The homeowner was inside at the time but escaped uninjured.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Anterius D. Thomas of Tiffin, Ohio, was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failure to control, and driving under suspension. He was transported to Tiffin Mercy Hospital by EMS. His passenger, 22-year-old Reece Frisch, also of Tiffin, was airlifted to Toledo ProMedica Hospital for treatment.

Sheriff Fredrick W. Stevens noted that while fire personnel worked to extinguish the flames, ammunition inside the home began to ignite. “I am grateful to report that no Fire/EMS personnel, deputies, or bystanders were injured during the incident,” Stevens said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
